What steps do I have to take in order for me to register a vehicle with a salvaged title?

I'm thinking of buying a salvaged Vehicle and I know I'm taking a risk but I can't beat this price for the car, so I'm going to get it registered and get my insurance going, so what would I have to go through in order to register the car through the DMV? and I live in California.
